It’s been three weeks since MI declared a state of emergency in Flint, but not a single water pipe that contains lead has been replaced, NBC News has learned. The round of testing ended up with Flint below the “action level” for lead, meaning a series of alerts and remedial actions that would have been triggered in early July did not take place.
Growing up in the city of Flint comes with its own set of challenges, but recently Northwestern High School students have had to battle a spree of contaminated water as well.

His office is looking into what can be done to stop the city from billing them.
Detroit natives Eminem and Big Sean have also pledged to assist Flint’s months-long water crisis, as well as fellow rapper Wiz Khalifa. Both of them will also avoid conflicts of interest since the office of the attorney general also defends the state.
Shannon Nobles of Lansing, Michigan, joined the crowd outside the Michigan State Capitol on Tuesday to stand in support with residents of Flint.
Meekhof, a Republican, suggested Attorney General Bill Schuette should pay for the outside investigators with existing funds and not ask the Legislature for additional money. He said once the panel is done, Schuette would then have a better idea of whether to investigate.
Schuette, who had declined to investigate in December but later reversed course, gave no timetable for the investigation.
Walmart, Coca-Cola, Nestlé and PepsiCo announced Tuesday the donation of about 176 truckloads of water to help people affected by the water crisis in Flint, Mich. The civil rights organization says the plan was developed with input from Flint residents.
He adds that the city treats the water with a chemical to prevent leaching.
It is unclear at this point whether the attorney general’s probe could result in criminal or civil charges.
