Report claims Broncos are ‘now Brock Osweiler’s team’
As the playoff picture continues to shape while the regular season is winding down, Denver Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler is still set to start this Sunday when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals for Week 16 action.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, who suffered a setback last week because of soreness in his foot, had a “really good” throwing session in the team’s indoor practice facility on Saturday. He has not played since November 15 when he threw four interceptions in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Manning has been on the sideline the last two games but Kubiak wasn’t sure if the five-time MVP would watch from the field or the Broncos locker room Monday night, when it’s expected to be clear but cold. He was ruled out against the Steelers.
With a win on Monday against the Cincinnati Bengals and a loss by either the New York Jets or Pittsburgh Steelers the Broncos will clinch a playoff spot. Following a field goal drive to end the second quarter, Brock Osweiler opened the second half with an 82-yard touchdown drive.
The Cincinnati Bengals have a lot riding on their upcoming Monday Night game against the Denver Broncos.
Head coach Gary Kubiak notified the team Wednesday morning of the situation.
In every game Osweiler has started, he has struggled mightily in one half and looked like an All-Pro at times in the other. But they were the ones making the noise after the break, as the Denver fans were as loud as any fanbase in a game this season. “I think everybody is excited for the challenge”. The most historic meeting between these two teams was on October 22, 2000, when Bengals RB Corey Dillon ran for a then single-game record 278 yards as the Bengals upset the Broncos, 31-21. Both defenses will also try and force the young passers into mistakes; whichever defense makes the most takeaways could be the difference. If the results from his workout on Saturday are not good, the decision might be made for him.
His last chance to get win No. 187 would be the Broncos’ final regular-season next Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.
