Report Claims iPhone 7 Plus to get Dual Cameras
Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to launch in September, we have already heard a number of rumors about the handsets and now it would appear we have some details on the camera for the 7 Plus.
According to AppleInsider’s description of the patent, “To correct for diffraction and visual aberrations that propagate within miniature cameras, the proposed lens system includes three lenses, two of which are convex or substantially convex”.
As soon as we get some more details about Apple’s new iPhones we will let you guys now.
If true, this would likely build on work carried out by LinX Imaging, an Israeli company which Apple acquired last April for a reported $20 million. LinX had successfully developed miniature multi-aperture cameras designed for mobile devices.
Rather than a flat sensor, the iPhone could use a “spherically curved photosensor” which would allow the distance between the sensor and lens elements to be greatly reduced, in return making a smaller camera module. LinX’s technology could capture images with a realistic depth of field, sense depth to create 3D image maps, and offer much higher photo quality in low light conditions.
The next iPhone is still a few months away, but that hasn’t stopped frequently accurate analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from predicting that the iPhone 7 Plus will feature a dual-camera system.
The feature will be reserved for a special version of 7 Plus that will have a higher price tag than the standard 7 Plus.
