Report: Nike Declines To Match adidas’ $200 Million Offer To James Harden
According to reports, Nike has bowed out of the bidding war and will let Harden fall into adidas’ hands.
It appears as though Adidas is close to landing the new face (and beard) of the company as Nike is reportedly unwilling to match the huge offer its competitor made to Houston Rockets superstar James Harden. “We’ll, over the weekend Khlo-money was spotted at James” Drew League game … sporting Adidas. Even though Harden was second in points per game, he ranked just 27th in the NBA in time of possession with the basketball last season. The deal is reported to a 10-year endorsement contract with Nike that could be worth up to $300 million. The deal comes only months after one of Adidas’ former signature athletes, Dwight Howard, left the brand to join PEAK.
Harden has yet to officially accept Adidas’ 13-year deal, but the writing is on the wall … or on Khloe’s back.
Although missing out on a spokesman of Harden’s caliber is far from ideal from Nike’s perspective, it is a bigger gain for Adidas than it is a loss for Nike. We’ll have to wait and see.
