Report of lion has Milwaukee residents on the lookout
Police and residents in one Milwaukee neighborhood are on high alert after video surfaced of a possible lion on the loose.
“I come rushing down, she said ‘Get your camera, ‘” Wilborn said.
Even stranger – the call he got from his neighbor. “I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ She said ‘there’s a lion in the next yard.'”.
The Nolens’ daughter shot video of the wandering cat, while the couple called their neighbors to warn them of the encroaching beast.
“I saw a lion”, A family member told WISN.
Donarski said it is possible it’s a lion but hard to confirm.
Milwaukee police reported that they were investigating a report of a woman on Garfield Ave. who saw what she believed to be a lion, shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday.
Police urged anyone who spots the roaming feline to report the sighting. Police Chief Edward Flynn says his officers were given cellphone video of a large animal that appeared to be a “lion-ish creature”.
Kisha Norman says neighbors told her a large cat ran up a tree.
When the officers checked out the neighborhood, they didn’t find anything. They found nothing.
Despite rumors of the cat roaming the city, reports aren’t entirely clear whether there was really a lion or not. That’s all it took to spark a viral story with its own Twitter handle and hashtag. The Zoo tweeted, “We’re not sure what’s running around the city, but all of our lions are safe and sound!”
The Milwaukee County Zoo says all its lions are accounted for.
They were trying to determine if a big cat attacked a cat near Palmer and Wright streets.
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources officials are also standing by. Do not try to approach or capture the animal.
Cougars – also known as pumas and mountain lions – are native to Wisconsin. There have only been a handful of deaths in the United States in the last 100 years.
