Reports Of Gunman On Construction Site Near San Francisco Hospital
Police in San Francisco shot and killed a gunman at St. Luke’s Hospital in the Mission District after the man appeared on an elevator tower on a construction site, reports CBS San Francisco.
The suspect was shot by several officers at a construction site near St. Luke’s Hospital, according to police spokesman Albie Esparza.
Esparza did not immediately know if anyone was injured.
Suhr says investigators think the gunman came to San Francisco after acquiring the rifle and ammunition during an armed robbery at a sporting goods store south of the city.
Evelyn, a bystander who declined to give her last name, said the shooter had fired three shots in the street before running in to the hospital building.
The entire ordeal lasted about 45 minutes, James said.
Jenna Bilotta said on Twitter that she was locked inside a doctor’s office because of a shooting in the area.
“They’re not letting anyone leave”, she said.
“I saw two people on top of the roof”, she said. NBC Bay Area’s chopper flew over the area and saw police throwing flash bangs on the roof of a building under construction in what appeared to be a standoff. Sounded like a small handgun.
