Republican candidate Rubio says USA intelligence capability weakened
Ted Cruz for President. Now.
“A steady flow of illegal immigrants coming in, driving down wages, impacts the wages of just about every person here”, Cruz told hundreds of cheering supporters gathered in an Orlando megachurch Friday.
Earlier, Rubio – sometimes speaking in Spanish to Latino reporters – said after his speech, “I’m puzzled and quite frankly surprised by Ted’s attacks, because Ted’s position on immigration is not that much different than mine”. He must consider it safer than defending his previous support for a path to citizenship for the undocumented, which has now been watered down to support for something that might be more feasible politically: green cards with a “very long” path to citizenship. Obama has been perhaps the most high-profile backer of Senator Rubio’s main immigration proposal. The bill, Kate’s Law, is named for a woman shot in San Francisco by an immigrant in the country illegally.
Cruz’s campaign has been slowly ramping up its criticism of Rubio for his work on immigration in the past week.
The gas company that services a New Jersey house where an explosion killed one person and critically injured two others this week said no leak was evident when a technician visited the location the day before the blast.
Cotton has proposed the Liberty Through Strength Act, a bill that would delay the December 1 implementation of the USA Freedom Act until the Obama administration can certify that the new NSA collection system is as effective as the current system.
That’s essentially what was contained in the 2013 bill Rubio co-wrote.
“He supported a massive expansion of the H-1B program, a 500 percent increase”, he said.
Had this been USA policy in May 1956 – when, according to the St. Petersburg Times, naturalization records show that Rubio’s parents, Mario and Oriales, came to the United States on immigration visas – Marco might have been born in Havana instead of Miami. He also said the government must demonstrate it can stop the flow of illegal immigrants before the public will support legal status for those already here.
“The goal of legal immigration should be to grow the economy, not to displace American workers”.
In his plan, Cruz also pledges to, “end birthright citizenship”. “That said, we need to have real-time access to any actionable intelligence that will allow us to save Americans’ lives”.
“Sometimes they say it one way on English stations and another way on Spanish stations”, Cruz said.
Many opponents of broadening surveillance powers by the federal government anxious about the impact on the privacy of US citizens.
“I think that we would be more than capable of discouraging the Russians from conducting those attacks”, he said.
America would benefit from more legal immigration, both high- and low-skill, paired with border security that also guards against those who try to enter illegally or who overstay their visas.
But he has now tied himself to the beliefs of a candidate who is intent on winning the GOP nomination on self-deportation – and exposed the truth behind the Marco-is-moderate myth. Rubio’s whole argument for his campaign is that he represents an alternative to the dogmatism that has left the GOP brand as tarnished as it’s been since Watergate.
