Republican group likens Clinton to Trump in advertisement
Had Hillary Clinton not pointed it out, it might have gone unnoticed: Thursday night in Milwaukee was the first time a presidential debate stage featured a majority of women.
U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge, a Warrensville Heights Democrat, praised the proposal in a statement, saying it “is just the latest example of her steadfast commitment to American families, especially those who are vulnerable and most in need of assistance”. Most previous polling showed Clinton holding a double-digit lead in the state, indicating a collapse in her support consistent with the rapid tightening of the race following Clinton’s narrow win in Iowa and substantial loss in New Hampshire. “Truth is that far more blacks get stopped for traffic violations”, Sanders said. They disagreed over the size and scope of government and traded views on topics including race and criminal justice, immigration and Social Security.
HILLARY CLINTON: Every progressive economist who has analyzed that says that the numbers don’t add up, and that’s a promise that can not be kept.
The New Hampshire results reset the Democratic race, putting pressure on both candidates as they look to the next two contests – the February 20 Nevada caucuses and the February 27 SC primary.
The two are competing for support from Democrats in the March 1 Colorado caucuses-along with several other states that could be close. Some of you may be old enough to remember the 2008 triple-overtime contest for the Democratic nomination, back when the race got so ugly that people wondered whether Clinton supporters would actually vote for Barack Obama in the general election.
That’s an example of the way Sanders’s laudable self-confidence, and his passionate belief in big, systemic change, is causing problems for his candidacy when it comes to the issue of Obama.
Sanders’ strength has startled Clinton’s campaign. “I was not that candidate”. Clinton scored the greatest applause during his introduction, and garnered intermittent bursts of support, such as when he discussed his wife’s views on college affordability and said President Barack Obama has “done a way better job than he gets credit for”.
“I think it shows how desperate the Republicans are to prevent me from becoming the nominee”, Clinton said about American Crossroads’ efforts in an interview on ABC.
Amber Phillips of The Washington Post argues that Sanders’ debate performance did nothing to improve his appeal to minority voters. Clinton campaigned in Denmark, South Carolina, where she outlined a $125 billion economic revitalization proposal aimed at creating jobs, improving infrastructure and building housing in “communities of poverty and systemic racism”.
Summers, who graduated from Susquehannock High School in 2012, said it was an exciting opportunity.
It was “one of the worst genocides in the history of the world”, Sanders said. They found that Wisconsin’s incarceration rate for black men, which is at 13 percent, was almost double the country’s rate.
He insisted he had used the word “black” 51 times but went on to explain that his policies would also help Latinos and the white, rural poor.
Ta-Nehisi Coates, an influential writer on racial issues, drew attention to the issue recently in an Atlantic Magazine essay entitled “The Case for Reparations”.
Sanders says universal healthcare a right, not a privilege.
“That’s what’s happening right now”. President Obama’s policing commission came out with some.
