Republican Presidential Hopeful Carson Makes NC Campaign Swing
Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson met with retired NASCAR driver Richard Petty Monday at …
Washington (CNN)Ben Carson said Tuesday that he has no problem with people flying the Confederate flag – as long as they do it on private property.
Formal or not, Petty’s support lends Carson a few credibility in North Carolina and among a broader swath of Southern states set to play a key role in the 2016 Republican presidential primary.
“Swastikas are a symbol of hate for a few people, too. And yet they still exist in museums and places like that”, Carson said, according to the AP. He also told reporters there that he considers the flag a local issue, saying, “If it’s a majority of people in that area who want it to fly, I certainly wouldn’t take it down”. Carson, who’s never held public office, appeared at a camp for disabled children established by Petty’s foundation.
“He’s very humane. That’s one of his strong points, as far as we’re concerned”.
He said that when he moved to a new home in rural Maryland, a neighbor put up a Confederate flag.
He said the only condition is that the flag be flown on private property instead of government grounds.
Carson exercised reasonable caution when he was asked at the event about the Confederate flag, popular with large swaths of Nascar fans, but still managed to endorse the flying of a flag he admitted symbolized hatred much like the Swastika.
Do you support Dr. Ben Carson?
“There’s no question that the people of America recognize that America is a unique place, and I don’t think that anybody wants to give that away”. She apparently did not elaborate as to what a “black lifestyle” entails. If you’re parrying your friends’ concerns about your candidate by telling them not to worry because he’s “one of the good ones”, it’s time to pause and reflect. Carson is ahead of Bush in the polls though, and this is no doubt going to help him narrow the gap even more on Trump in the red states down south. While Carson projects a low-key image, he is a risky ideologue with wacky ideas that deserve scorn and mockery – just like his foolish supporters who would inflict him on our nation.
“When I run for president, I’d prefer not to run against someone”.
