Republicans begin to say Donald Trump could be impeached
Less than four months into Donald Trump’s presidency, members of Congress are tossing around the word “impeachment”.
Green, who represents the 9th Congressional District of Texas, claimed history would vindicate his call to impeach President Trump after a memo from former FBI Director James Comey raised questions about whether the president was interfering with the Russian Federation investigation. “It is obvious there are some people out there that want to harm the president”, Ryan said.
The memo is one of several damaging leaks about Trump’s relationship with Comey that have surfaced since the president abruptly fired him. He also fired the USA attorney in Manhattan, with jurisdiction over Trump Tower.
“Impeachment is the only way to stop Donald Trump, whose corruption and incompetence is placing our country in greater danger with each passing day”, said Charles Chamberlain, executive director for Democracy for America, which announced last week that 65,000 of its members have signed off on a petition calling on Congress to investigate and impeach Mr. Trump.
This is why you don’t go to SantaCon. At this moment, there are many Republicans who are beginning to realize that Trump could be impeached. That could come either through the appointment of a special prosecutor, or the creation of a congressional commission-two moves Republican leaders have so far resisted.
Impeachment is the official process by which formal charges are brought against a civil officer of government for any alleged crimes.
The memos and testimony could prove explosive, given reports that Trump asked Comey to quash an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn shortly after Flynn was forced to resign.
A number of Democratic lawmakers made less direct threats, saying if what has been reported is true it is obstruction of justice. But Ross argues it also applies to a president with an “incapacity to really govern” of the sort demonstrated by Trump. In January, only days after the inauguration, then Acting Attorney General Sally Yates had informed Trump’s White House counsel that Flynn had been interviewed by the FBI as part of an active investigation. New York Times reported that the recent polls have revealed Trump to be the least popular USA president in modern history.

Amash replied “yes” when asked if the allegations against Trump would warrant impeachment.
US lawmakers shot down the prospect of Putin providing evidence to congressional investigations, with Senator Susan Collins dismissing the notion as “absurd”. “He needs to right the ship”, Collins told Newsradio WGAN.
It’s far too soon to make a definitive judgment about whether any laws have been broken in connection with the president’s contacts with James Comey, the Federal Bureau of Investigation director he fired a week ago. So, even if ImpeachTrumpNow crosses 10 million signatures or #ImpeachTrump will have another million mentions on Twitter, Congress will only look into hard evidence if it ever comes up to impeach Trump.
