Republicans Christie, Fiorina quit bids for White House
Clinton won the majority of those over 65 and those with incomes over $200,000 a year, according to early exit polls conducted by Edison Research for The Associated Press and the television networks.
It was a disappointing finish for Marco Rubio, robbing his campaign of the momentum it had from a strong finish in Iowa. “I have both won elections that I was supposed to lose and I’ve lost elections I was supposed to win and what that means is you never know what will happen”. Former Secretary of State and Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton earned 39 percent. The contributions came mostly in small-dollar amounts, his campaign said, illustrating the resources he will have to fight Mrs Clinton to the bitter end. Carson, with a penchant for racist, incorrect and just freaky statements, has said that he’d be happy to be Trump’s vice presidential pick; and Fiorina, who tussled with Trump and extended her 15 minutes of political fame by promoting lies about Planned Parenthood, has no love for the establishment and will likely join Carson and Christie in supporting Trump.
Trump’s victory in New Hampshire showed pundits were wrong to think he would quickly self-destruct based on his penchant for insults and imprecise plans for the presidency.
The public embrace of a possible brokered convention marks an evolution in public rhetoric from Rubio’s team that could be created to raise alarm bells among Republican officials.
During the Republican debate just three days before the New Hampshire primary, Christie derisively attacked his forerunner Rubio, questioning his credibility as a presidential candidate and calling him robotic.
He opened up about his challenges with reporters over a late breakfast in an Okatie Cracker Barrel restaurant with his wife and children. Sharpton said he would not endorse a candidate until he met with Clinton.
Trump did everything short of moon the entire population of Iowa and ended up in second place with 24 percent of the overall vote in that state’s caucus last week. “I don’t in any way hold that against him. There are a lot of candidates”, Gowdy said as he was travelling with Rubio on Wednesday. “I don’t think you can keep saying ‘trust me, ‘” Rubio said.
The large Republican field was winnowed after Iowa, but there remains a crowded grouping of more traditional candidates, including Rubio.
Rubio campaign manager, Terry Sullivan, told the AP the Republican primary contest could “easily extend to May – “or the convention”. I’m surprised he didn’t do better”.
But he still faced fallout among the Republican primary electorate after his warm welcoming of Obama in October 2012, after Hurricane Sandy walloped his state.
Donald Trump and more than a half-dozen Republican rivals made last-minute bids for votes Tuesday in a New Hampshire primary that in many ways became a battle to exceed expectations. And as he shifts his attention to South Carolinas February 20 contest, the 44-year-old freshman senator wants voters to know hes learned an important lesson from his experience in New Hampshire. Rubio may have botched his chances to be voters’ solidified pick for president after his performance in last Saturday’s GOP debate, which he even admits he “did not do well”.
