Reset alarm clock before bedtime Saturday night
Before hitting the sack tonight, residents should keep in mind to set their clocks back an hour, as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end – giving us all an extra hour of sleep.
It used to be that the clocks would change on the last Sunday in October and the first Sunday in April.
Dieno’s strong distaste for the time change dates back to his second year in university. “Maybe it had a goal once, but I just don’t think it does any more”. I ride in the same amount of darkness either way. But the sun sets later in the summer anyways.
Nevertheless, people are complaining about having to change the clock twice a year, proposing that the DST shift should be followed all year long.
Ready or not, Daylight Saving Time ended at 2 a.m. Sunday.
Others like it so much they want it to be kept year round (standard time, by the way, is standard in name only … we go seven months of the year now with the extra hour tacked on at the end of the day).
“I don’t even hear it anymore”. Hawaii does not now observe DST nor does most areas of Arizona. The entire state does not observe DST with the exception of the large Navajo Indian Reservation.
Although a few early proponents of DST aimed to reduce evening use of incandescent lighting to save electricity, modern research about how DST now affects energy use is limited or contradictory. That means this is also the time of year for a spate of stories about whether daylight savings time makes sense.
They added, “We feel safer when we’re walking in the daylight…Offenders know they’re more likely to be recognized and get caught if they’re fully visible”.
So who is in and who is out? What a miserable shock it’ll be to be late after losing an hour to Daylight Savings spring time change! Most countries in the northern hemisphere that recognize the time change are in Europe and North America. At 2 AM on November 1st you move the clock back to 1 AM. What kind of crime could possible go up because of daylight savings time?
Australia can’t really decide.
Daylight Saving Time was introduced to save resources.
Current time today is 10:57 am EST. Thanks for reading the whole article so heres a reward.
Public safety officials say this is also a good time to put a new battery in the smoke alarm, no matter where you live. That part may save your life!
The fundamental misunderstanding of DST is a result of us Americans (humans, really) being impatient and all too willing to miscalculate the the harm of short-term problems over subtle long-term benefits.
