Resident Evil 2 Remake Officially Announced
It sounds like your typical Resident Evil setup, although we have to wonder how it will translate into a stage play.
And that’s basically it. There’s nothing else obviously, as so far the process is has only got as far as a “yes” from Daddy Capcom (who previously mentioned HD remakes were key to its future).
Featured above, you can view a message from Hirabayashi confirming the news.
Details are extremely slim at the moment, but the title was confirmed to be in the early development cycles with no other information revealed on the remake.
That game was, of course, based upon the GameCube version, so it’s going to be interesting to see how it approaches this one. Some, for example, hope there’ll be a HD version with the original’s fixed camera in addition to a Resident Evil 4-style re-imagining.
Resident Evil 2 is one of the most loved titles in the franchise and fans have been asking for a remake for a long time. “The team here at Capcom Japan really appreciates fans’ passion and support and will do our best to bring fans what they really want”.
For those that don’t remember the 1998 classic, the game takes place following Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield attempting to escape Raccoon City.
“You’ve been telling us for years that you want Resident Evil 2 to be remade, and we haven’t been able to make it happen…until now!”
