Restricted free agent Enes Kanter signs $70 million max offer sheet
Yahoo’s Wojnarowski has now confirmed that Portland’s offer is for four years for a total of $70 million (or $17.5 per year).
The Thunder have three days to match the offer sheet and retain Kanter – or decide to let him leave for the Blazers.
Kanter was acquired at the trade deadline by the Thunder in a three-team deal that sent Reggie Jackson to the Pistons. Kanter, 23, was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2011 National Basteball Association draft. His frustration reached a fever pitch in 2014-15, which resulted in a trade to the Thunder.
It’s not immediately clear how much the Blazers will offer Kanter.
Per Anthony Slater of the Oklahoman, Presti dealt for Kanter with the intention of working out a long-term deal at some point.
“We wouldn’t have traded for him if we didn’t feel like we’re going to be in a position to have him with us going forward”, Presti said in April.
Throughout free agency, it’s been widely assumed that Enes Kanter would be back with the Thunder. Throughout the National Basteball Association free agent moratorium, which ended Thursday, multiple reports have suggested that Oklahoma City plans on matching any offer for their young big man.
And while Kanter does have his weaknesses (particularly on the defensive end) there’s no denying that he has some enticing offensive potential.
