Restricting guns does little to stop crime

Democrats were more willing to broach the issue than Republicans, who in several instances spoke of gun control only to defend their conservative credentials from accusations of being anti-gun, as Mitt Romney did in 2012.

Those convicted or charged with felonies, drug users, unauthorized foreigners, and those who have been committed to mental institutions are barred from buying guns.

So why do we put up these signs in other places?

Whoever said the solution to our domestic killing fields was an either-or proposition?

That is, what about what the Second Amendment calls “a well-regulated militia” – a police auxiliary of hundreds of thousands of civilian volunteers studied for mental stability, trained in firearms use and safety, authorized to carry concealed guns in their daily lives, and sworn to be ready to use them against the attack of the next psychotic?

Obama has been referred to as the greatest gun salesman of the century, but we don’t have to leap to racism to explain why.

In order to address this weakness in the current regulation, CAP proposes that the administration look to state sales tax laws as a useful analogy. We have a powerful NRA and a constitutional right to firearms; Australia has neither. But, for the most part, like nearly all issues in U.S. politics, it is a partisan subject. We can’t legislate away our firearm fetishism or the lethal lunacy of a few sick minds. Articles always insinuate that legal gun owners are “gun nuts”, or indifferent to the mass murders, which is insulting to American gun owners. It is awesome how their opposition changes when there is a direct threat to them. This can include online monitoring of social media for violently worded posts or images that might suggest someone is contemplating a rampage.

I might even get a tax credit if I buy a small and efficient gun. This would be an ideal job for unemployed veterans who already have more than ample training in gun safety and proper use.

We have heard it on the news every single week and we say, “Aww, not again”, or, “How sad”, but at what point do we start to become a proactive country and to try to stop this?
