Returning stars add sparks heading into Roanoke finale
It all comes down to this. With our fingers tightly crossed, we ponder what might await us in the last chapter of American Horror Story: Roanoke. What treats and twists do the finale hold for us?
Then we got the second show-within-a-show of the evening, with Lana Winters (Sarah Paulson, in her third role this season) from “American Horror Story: Asylum” interviewing Lee live on her TV show.
Series co-creator Ryan Murphy previously teased through his official Twitter account that viewers will see the return of Lana Winters in “American Horror Story: Roanoke”. Prosecutors watched her on the show, and then they watch through the second season because now they had her on tape committing the crimes.
Peters first appeared halfway through the season as Rory Monahan, the actor who portrayed Edward Phillipe Mott in the reenactment to My Roanoke Nightmare. Lady Gaga may also make another appearance on AHS: Roanoke and could make Lee kill again if she really was possessed. And hey, like Lee said, Flora can always visit her ghost mom and ghost friend when it’s not the Blood Moon. She would stay in the house to protect Priscilla from the butcher, as long as Flora was safe and alive. In these moments, Lee showed herself as being truly about her daughter more than fame, and understanding there was no other way to move forward, she immortalized herself in flame, spirit, and ash. However, Ryan Murphy has given us one tiny detail about the next season: the show will feature many characters from Freak Show. During the interview, Lee revealed she chose to speak to Lana because she had been through so much, like killing her own son Bloody Face (yay, Asylum shout out!). Unfortuantely, Polk isn’t interested in talking, but he is gunned down by police before he can cause more damage. Nonetheless, a teaser for the finale episode shows journalist Lana Winters from season two “Asylum, ‘ also played by Paulson, being featured in an interview with Lee”.
In the end, Flora is the sole survivor of the nightmare, the person who never wanted anything more than to find a connection she didn’t fear.
After betraying her daughter during her murder trial, Lee’s relationship with Flora obviously suffered on AHS: Roanoke.
And so it goes: Lee dies, the house burns down, and the cops take Flora into custody. We get a sense of how big a phenomenon the show became. For this episode in particular, though, I am so impressed with how well it worked structurally. Everyone is dead… except for Lee Harris (Adina Porter), Matt’s sister. They don’t believe that things are real, but Lee insists that the ghosts will find them. Now, after nine weeks of scares, the season is concluding with one final episode, sure to twist things even more.
We’ve reached the end of the sixth season of American Horror Story, with Roanoke wrapping up with even more nods to the reality television genre. Season 7 of American Horror Story will air in 2017, but the premiere date and season 7 AHS cast have still not been released. What a great season, guys. Roanoke finale airing tonight, questions are swirling.
American Horror Story season 6 is coming to an end.
