Reverse Flash Returns In New The Flash Clip
Back at STAR, Harry works on something to do with The Turtle’s cells but can’t quite nail it. Cisco wonders how he can vibe to catch Zoom which sparks something in Harry’s brain: triggering the vibes comes from an adrenaline rush, and he manages to get one out of Cisco by dressing as The Reverse-Flash.
In season one the Reverse-Flash was The Flash’s (Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin) big bad, but given Wells’ (Tom Cavanagh) return this season we don’t know how to feel.
But, after an attack at Mercury Labs, Christina McGee (Amanda Pays) confirms that the Reverse Flash is back. “Meanwhile, Iris and Francine share a ncie moment that brings Iris closer to her brother, Wally”. This ends up dovetailing into the search for Dr. McGee, as Cisco is the one who makes the discovery that the Reverse-Flash has returned, and that he successfully kills McGee once she completes the tachyon machine – that is, unless Barry is able to stop him in time. Part of the fun with time travel is playing with situations like this where characters from different points in time collide. You can practically see the father/son bond forming between Cisco and Wells, as much as the latter would scoff at the idea. Photos for Tuesday’s episode show the cop back in action, which gives Barry plenty of time to blurt out the truth.
At the end of the day, Barry’s loved ones are the most important to him. And this episode certainly succeeded in its goal of fleshing out Thawne’s past and the origin of his hatred for Barry.
Harry: “Barry needs to get better, stronger, faster”. Eventually, Hunter became paraplegic from an incident with Gorilla Grodd (note The CW only showed the character seated), eventually seeking to use the Cosmic Treadmill to reverse his condition, and subsequently winding up with a unique spin on The Flash’s abilities. This is a villain who ruined many lives (including Barry, Cisco, Eddie and Earth-1’s Dr. Wells) during his 15-year stay in the 21st Century. As Harry explains in one of the episode’s two over-explanatory science scenes, capturing Thawne caused the timeline to rupture, and Cisco is suffering as a result.
‘The Flash” Season 2: “Welcome To Earth-2’ Plot Revealed!
Back at the S.T.A.R. Labs, Cisco and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) keep an eye out around the city for Tachyon readings. Barry goes through police records to find Earth-1 Jay Garrick, not finding anything.
So can the same be said for Patty Spivot, who also made a decision to leave after uncovering once and for all that Barry was the Flash under her own accord? She explains he has no doppelganger but Jay says he has a good explanation. Patty figured it out herself doing some detective work that pretty much proved that anyone could figure out his secret identity, but it was a nice and fitting farewell to her as a love interest, at least for now. But whatever connection might exist between Zolomon and Zoom on this series, it does seem like we’ve been given an important new clue in the journey towards discovering who Zoom is and what he truly wants.
