Rex Ryan and the Bills downplay media reports and 0-2 start
The adversary is coached by the vehement Rex Ryan, alongside his twin brother, defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula tells The Associated Press that Rex Ryan has full authority in overseeing the team and fully supports the coach’s decision to fire offensive coordinator Greg Roman. “In fact, I think it’s a real positive thing for us”. Ryan sports a career record of 54-60, and he is 8-10 as the Bills coach, including an 0-2 start this season. “In regards to the reports about how players were seeing ownership, that happens all the time”.
Against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, the defense did a decent job but the offense scored just seven points, gained just 160 yards and converted just 11 first downs.
And then he turned on the tape of Arizona’s 40-7 thrashing of Tampa Bay and began to recognize the enormity of the challenge his beleaguered team is going to face Sunday against the Cardinals, who may be the best team in the NFC, if not the entire NFL. Then it was the defense’s turn to unravel in a 37-31 loss to Ryan’s former team, the Jets, on Thursday. “Taking a good hard look at what we’re doing, we made some changes”.
“This might be the exact team we need to play”, Ryan said, per the Buffalo News.
So, basically, the Bills are a mess after just two weeks, and Francesa went in on the team Monday on WFAN.
“I feel really comfortable with [the move]”, Ryan said. Do I believe some of the reports that are out there? No.
“People can say whatever they want, that’s the handsome thing about this country, you can say exactly what you want”, he said.
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins will be limited in practice this week, following another lackluster performance in Week 2. I told them it’s up to our play, we can’t blame anybody. “It’s justified because we haven’t done what we need to do on the field so that he has security”. There’s a lot of them that I know are–I’m not going to throw the letters out there–but I know that some are ridiculous.
Veteran Kyle Williams says this, or the last few months won’t be a distraction, and added that, “when you’ve been around the league long enough, nothing really surprises you”.
On Monday, Ryan, who should be burned by now from his hot seat, said that facing the Cardinals and the Patriots next is “exactly” what his 0-2 Bills need right now. “And now it’s time to move on, I’m focused on Arizona and I better be”.
