Rex Ryan: I was outcoached by Bill Belichick
Rex Ryan had talked a big game all week, while still showing respect to the reigining champs, but it was clear he put a lot into this game.
Tom Brady and the New England Patriots continued their dominance over Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills.
While the update was certainly welcome news, Williams’ teammates recognized that it is exceptionally hard to lose a player like him to injury in a game of this magnitude. “But it was definitely good to come in here and get a win”.
“When he got of the pocket it didn’t grade out very well at all“.
He didn’t claim not to know the Miami Dolphins’ running back, or give any of his players nicknames. Yeah we’ve got to get better as a team no question, but I have to get better.
New England Patriots’ Chandler Jones (95) sacks Buffalo Bills… You can count on him, and I count on him for a lot of things.
“Uh, that’s the reason we lost”, he said sarcastically. “We just didn’t come out and play with that energy for all four quarters”. And I think we have to learn from that and make it to where penalties are in our favor, not the other way. Did enough to win. “We dug ourselves a hole and it’s up to us to get out of it”.
That familiar Monday feeling is back for Bills fans: The Monday after a loss to the Patriots.
-TE Rob Gronkowski is always a handful for opponents. Passing back Dion Lewis chipped in with 98 yards on six catches, including a 40-yard wheel route. On the day, he caught 7 passes for 113 yards.
Ryan believes he was responsible for drawing the flag for the Bills’ bench.
Williams’ head snapped backward after he laid out trying to make a tackle against Patriots wide receiver Julian Edleman, who scored a touchdown on the play.
Buffalo had a drive to tie the game, but it ended with a deflected pass falling in the hands of a Patriots defender. Most of the game a linebacker lined up against the quick and shifty Lewis, and Brady took advantage of that matchup. All told the limited rushing attack ran only 12 times for 60 yards.
“We’re a better defense than what we showed”.
Credit the Bills for hanging tough in the final quarter and making the game appear closer than it was for the first 45 minutes.
The Patriots were penalized 11 times for 119 yards.
On offense, Tyrod Taylor threw three interceptions and combined for 166 yards offense through three quarters. We all work together. What they were less inclined to admit was that they simply played poorly. They could win a game of outcome and shift the balance in the AFC East.
After that first scoring drive, the Patriots went three-and-out, using a timeout in the process because of the noise.
Brady threw for more yards (466) than anyone has against Buffalo in its franchise history. LeSean McCoy led the way with 89 yards on his 15 attempts.
Buffalo had cut New England’s lead to 21-13 late in the first half when Taylor connected with Clay on a 9-yard touchdown, but kicker Dan Carpenter missed the extra point. Let’s face it: New England isn’t exactly Boy Scouts of America, alright? But the defensive front needs to prove itself more stout against the run, nearly regardless of the scheme or personnel group. Their main competitor, the Indianapolis Colts, have started off 0-2 and don’t look to be a shell of the team that they were last season.
There’s no sign that more embodies a team not ready for a hyped matchup than careless penalties and turnovers. “I still don’t know his name”.
