Rhoades leaving Mizzou to be Baylor’s new AD
Rhoades joined Mizzou in March 2015 to take over the job vacated by Mike Alden.
Rhoades would replace former athletic director Ian McCaw, who resigned in the midst Baylor’s scandal and Title IX lawsuit regarding the way the school handled sexual-assault cases involving its football players. “I am excited to support and develop programs of the highest caliber, in facilities that are second to none, alongside coaches who are among the best in the industry, all grounded in a Christian tradition and committed to academic excellence”. Baylor has hired former Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe to replace Briles.
Missouri AD Mack Rhoades will accept the same position at Baylor.
Prior to his arrival in Columbia, Rhoades served as the vice president for Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Houston for almost six years. “I wish him the best”. Football will resume at Missouri following the resignation of University of Missouri system president Tim Wolfe after several members of the team, pointing to Wolfes inaction in handling of racial tensions at the school, announced over the weekend that they would not play until the president was gone. He saw the football team threaten to boycott practices and games until president Tim Wolfe stepped down, who did along with Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin. For me I’ve got an opportunity to lead our program. That protest came after the athletic department began an internal investigation into possible mistreatment of players by head coach Ehren Earleywine.
Rhoades will be formally introduced to the media on July 18, according to Baylor.
Wren Baker is now the deputy director of athletics at Missouri.
