Rich Kardashians Just Got Richer
The Kardashian family has signed a record-breaking $100 million contract with E! to continue with the network for another four more years. It is by far, the highest deal ever struck in TV history for a reality show. Kris Jenner, the reality matriarch and momager fiercely negotiated the deal after threatening to leave E!
The Kardashian sisters Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney along with Kendall and Kylie Jenner (their younger half-sisters) will now appear for four more seasons of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and also the spin-offs like Kourtney and Khloé Take the Hamptons. Kris Jenner’s ex husband Bruce Jenner is not included in the new deal. The former Olympian will be exiting the reality show after the season 10. Bruce has signed multiple deals for a TV show on E! that would be based on his gender transition. Kanye West, Kim’s husband although not explicitly included in the contract, might continue to make cameos.
Executives at E! believe that the family’s massive fan following o social media will trigger future digital projects. Reportedly, Jenner had been in talks for a Kardashian YouTube channel. The contract however, does not restrict the family to have their own shows. The network will collaborate with the family for standalone specials apart from including them in award shows coverage. Khloé has been a host on red carpet coverage and post-Oscar and Grammy specials for E! She also served as a fashion correspondent for past awards season. Kim is likely to produce her own shows in future.
The network is also planning to expand coverage of the youngest Kardashian-Jenner sisters for its future projects owing to their rising celebrity status. Kendall’s modelling career is on the high with her becoming a leading fashion model. Kylie has plans to become an actor after a successful stint in modelling and hosting.
