Rick Pitino denies flipping off Kentucky fans

Louisville Cardinals coach Rick Pitino told ESPN he “didn’t flip off the fans” when he exited Rupp Arena after losing 75-73 to the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday.
Kentucky’s sophomore point guard came into the season billed by many experts at the best point guard in college basketball, but Ulis had not looked the same since suffering a hyperextended elbow November 27 at South Florida. Kentucky (10-2) led by 16 points early in the second half before Louisville came nearly all the way back. Now, Ulis is a baller he’s a great basketball player and always comes to play in big games. A rugged, physical game with another home team again enjoying the benefit of the doubt on the physical aspects of the game.
The Wildcats then committed a shot-clock violation to give Louisville one more chance. “While Louisville will be playing its sixth game over the last two weeks when it visits Lexington, the Wildcats are coming off a 74-67 loss to Ohio State in NY and will only be playing their third game over the same span. “(The rivalry is) more of a gift to the rest of the state of Kentucky, and that’s how I go through it. I see it as we do it to give back, especially during Christmas time and the New Year’s. Poythress, who scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, dominated the game early in the second half when it appeared that a blowout was about to ensue. Kentucky won in spite of losing starting guard Isaiah Briscoe before the game to a ankle sprain hurt in warmups.
“He’s a fighter”, Calipari said of Briscoe. Maybe a peace sign to signify that I got not just one, but two NCAA championship rings- one with the Wildcats, and another with the Cardinals. Murray leads the team in scoring at 17.1 ppg and is the first player in the history of Kentucky basketball to hit at least one 3-pointer in each of his first 11 college games. A school spokesman said Pitino was doing a radio interview at the time. “I’m watching tape”, Calipari said, according to the Courier-Journal.
“I walked over to coach and said ‘I want the ball, I want the last shot, ‘” Lee said.
Onuaku had nine points and ten rebounds while Lewis scored 15 points on six of ten shooting from the field. “Let’s be classy, and I expect that’s how they’ll be in this game”. Only Clair Bee, who earned 200 wins in his first 231 games at Long Island University from 1931-41, did it faster.
Pitino had a 6-2 record against the Cardinals while coaching the Wildcats.
With the victory on Saturday, Calipari continued his dominance over Rick Pitino in the Louisville rivalry after improving 8-1 in this series.
Be careful looking at UL’s box score outside of Lee and Trey Lewis (both transfers), because it isn’t pretty.
