Ridiculously ripped Ronda Rousey shows up for UFC 207
Since Rousey’s crushing defeat to Holm, she has been barely been seen out and about. If your response to us telling you that is “Wait, that’s this week?” you’re not alone. Out of sight, out of mind, Rousey’s return has received very little attention from the mainstream media – something which is sure to be reflected in the pay-per-view buys, despite the likelihood of Dana White delivering his par-for-the-course propaganda about another record-breaking event in Friday’s post-fight press conference. Without sounding refractory, the UFC has done a rather poor job of picking up that ball. “She’s walking out to the Octagon first”, Nunes said. But Amanda Nunes is a knockout artist, that’s the difference. But like the champion before her, we’ve already seen Nunes defeated in the past.
“She also said something like this is one of my last ones”.
Nunes has fought her way to the top of the division and at 28 years of age, continues to improve with every bout. “You know you’re going to fight this one person, and it’s like your showdown, and the most important thing in your whole life, and then millions of people are watching”. Facing “Germn Tank” Shiela Gaff at UFC 163, Nunes impressed with another TKO victory. This fight will mark Nunes’ first attempt at defending the belt. She could retire with the belt on Friday night, or she may possibly face the victor of the inaugural women’s featherweight title between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie at UFC 208. “After going through all of that, I have a much bigger point to make this time”. Six months later Nunes was back, and in a big way. This remains the only women’s UFC contest to be finished by leg kicks. Physically, the former Olympic medalist is always in peak condition and she appears to be stronger than ever. Tate sunk in the rear-naked choke and crowned herself the champion.
Next up was her decision win over rising MMA prospect Valentina Schevchenko. Rousey has taken a different approach this time around and has stayed away from the media spotlight leading up to the fight after blaming the intense promotions and media activities as one of the reasons for her loss to Holm last November.
Miesha Tate knows what can happen to a fighter whose head isn’t totally into the game. This was to be Nunes’ career defining performance. It’s where her finish of Tate was started.
Nunes’ championship bout against Miesha Tate was a ideal example. Rousey is returning to the UFC on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, after a 13-month absence, taking on Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight title.
