Right-Wing Outlet’s “New” Clinton Email Was Released Six Months Ago
After fainting and sustaining a concussion, a former aide to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton contacted NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist in an effort to stymie bad press about the incident.
The Washington Examiner is presenting emails released six months ago as new to falsely claim that Hillary Clinton “is only now facing questions about how she characterized” the 2012 terror attacks on a diplomatic facility in Benghazi.
Leading Clinton challenger Bernie Sanders and Warren have a history of working together in the Senate and she is widely viewed as strong running mate material for the Vermont senator.
On a more substantive note, Vice pointed out emails in which Clinton praised the release of one of the youngest Guantanamo Bay detainees.
To obtain information on who met with Clinton and when, the AP accessed almost 1,300 pages of State Department calendars dating from 2009 to 2013, when she served as secretary. Kennedy explained that the department had already told American citizens not to travel to Benghazi on January 2 – a warning they had reiterated on January 24, just one day before her e-mail. “Between losing my internet/berry service for two weeks during Sandy and jet lagging around the world, I’m not sure what I never received but am trying to crawl out from under the ones that are piled up in my in box”, she said in the email.
And, the Justice Department continues to look into Clinton’s use of the private server – with some signs that it has moved beyond the initial fact-finding stage into a deeper look into whether Clinton knowingly or unknowingly transmitted classified information.
If Iowa Democrats aren’t head-over-heels in love, it probably doesn’t matter much, said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University poll, which conducts monthly surveys in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Clinton’s backers are convinced she’ll come on board eventually. “Since the Brits, Germans and Dutch have told their citizens to leave Benghazi, why aren’t we doing the same?” she asked her top staff, citing a report from NPR.
Sens. Tammy Baldwin, Barbara Boxer, Maria Cantwell, Dianne Feinstein, Kirsten Gillibrand, Heidi Heitkamp, Mazie Hirono, Amy Klobuchar, Claire McCaskill, Barbara Mikulski, Patty Murray, Jeanne Shaheen and Debbie Stabenow – every other Democratic woman senator – will headline the fundraiser to benefit Clinton’s campaign at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill.
“I have said repeatedly that I take responsibility for my use of personal email”, Clinton said under questioning by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH). Warren favors, among other things, a more level income scale, a higher minimum wage and tougher rules and enforcement for Wall Street. “I don’t think it’s hugely notable that she is not there”.
But as Warren’s colleagues spoke, she was out of sight and out of mind. Her availability to luminaries from politics, business and charity shows the extent to which her office became a sounding board for their interests.
Hillary Clinton isn’t the only one who can’t name her concrete accomplishments as President Barack Obama’s first Secretary of State.
