Rihanna cancels Grammy performance – Here’s why
The Grammys have not announced who or what will replace her performance.
Speaking during ‘The Late Late Show’ after the Grammys Corden revealed: “A couple of weeks ago, I got asked if I would introduce Rihanna on the show”.
It was expected that the ANTi hitmaker was going to sing “Kiss Me Better.” after rehearsing twice in the week at the Staples Centre. “She’d come out and do a song and then at the end, she’d come and sit with me, like it was it’s own talk show which they called As It Lays”. “Therefore she can not perform safely”, said the singer’s spokeswoman, Amanda Silverman. Other performances include a Lionel Richie tribute, The Weeknd, Adele, Tori Kelly, James Bay, an Eagles tribute to their late band member Glenn Frey and Lady Gaga’s tribute to David Bowie.
Although Rihanna was unable to perform at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards due to a health concern, the Bajan beauty had something spectacular planned for her stage appearance.
A rep for the singer said that a doctor put her on 48-hour vocal rest because she “was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal cords”. Rihanna initially gave the album away for free on Tidal to her Twitter followers because of the long wait, over a year, that they endured for its release.
