Rihanna shines during 2016 MTV Video Music Awards
Last night, Drake wasn’t present to accept his Video Music Award for Best Hip Hop Video (“Hotline Bling“), but he did show up in the final moments of the ceremony as the surprise presenter of the Video Vanguard Award, which went to Rihanna. He said he met Rihanna in 2005 on the set of her first music video for Pon de Replay.
Wearing a glittering gold leotard with silver straps down each side and matching knee-high boots, Britney looked in the best shape of her life as she writhed around to the sultry sounds of the track. She was doing exactly what I’ve done to so many women throughout my life, which is show them quality time, then disappear. The video also features nude waxworks of Swift, Donald Trump, West himself and his wife Kim Kardashian West.
The 22 singer previously claimed that she was unaware that Kanye was going to reference her in his song.
On Sunday night, at the 33rd instalment of the VMAs, the prize was given to Rihanna, who was born in 1988, which means that by the time she was a teenager, MTV was well into its post – Real World transformation.
Ariana Grande, with the help of Niki Minaj, also had people talking with her aerobics-centric performance of “Side to Side“, which seemed like Olivia Newton-Johns “Physical” music video if it took place at SoulCycle. And while accepting an award for Best Female Video for “Hold Up”, she stopped traffic in a gold lace jumpsuit with wide legs and a matching cape.
Last night’s VMAs had its ups and downs (four not-very-funny hosts are better than one?), but Rihanna’s multiple performances were definitely in the up column. (Didn’t she tell you that she was a savage?).
Britney’s appearance at the ceremony marked her first performance at the VMAs in nearly 10 years. Tell Taylor.’ Bro, I love all y’all.

Spears, whose album “Glory” dropped on August 26, tried her best when she performed “Make Me” in a sparkly gold getup. He also called out one of Kim’s exes, Ray J, who probably wasn’t in the building, noting he put him in the video, referring to “Famous”. G-Eazy joined her, and she briefly covered the chorus of his hit “Me, Myself and I”. The music video, which shows him looking frail in bed with bandaged eyes, was released just days before the icon’s January 10 death. Jimmy Fallon, who presented video of the year, dressed as Ryan Lochte and even sported the platinum blonde hair.
“Gabby is back in the hospital tonight being treated for a seriously infected past mouth injury”.
