Rio Ferdinand speaks out on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Man United remarks
Real’s usual trident of Benzema, Bale and Cristiano, known as BBC, is often compared to the equally potent MSN trident of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar deployed at archrivals Barcelona.
Though he struggled in his first season at the Camp Nou, the Brazil captain has since flourished with the Blaugrana and has been tipped by many to be a future Ballon d’Or victor.
“I like Neymar a lot”.
Ferdinand later laughed off Ronaldo’s comments on BT Sport, saying: “He’s gone off me!”
Barcelona striker Neymar on Saturday said it would be good if Cristiano Ronaldo played for Barcelona.
“Can he be Messi’s heir?”
The Brazilian legend also spoke about his close friend Zinedine Zidane who took over the job at Real Madrid after Rafa Benitez was sacked earlier in the season.
Ronaldo is among the Spanish league’s top scorers with 21 goals, and has scored 11 in the group phase of the Champions League – but he has been criticised for his inability to score away from home since November.
Former United defender and England global Rio Ferdinand has explained why the goal-scoring extraordinaire didn’t get along with several of the players at Old Trafford. “He’s the best player with whom I have ever played with. The important thing is that we all get on well on the pitch”, he added.
Last year, Carlo Ancelotti’s men were humbled at the semifinals stage when Juventus won 2-1 in Turin then battled to a 1-1 draw in Madrid.
But he says the rest of his team-mates deserve credit and hopes the club can retain the Champions League.
Ronaldo had won La Liga with Real but never lifted the Champions League in his illustrious career.
