‘Rising Thunder’ Announced – Screens & Trailer
Radiant Entertainment’s founders, Tom and Tony Cannon, are also known amongst fighting game fans as the founder of the worldwide Evo fighting game tournament and the developer of the latency-hiding GGPO netcode (which serves as the foundation of every modern fighting game’s netcode), respectively.
“When you look at the essence of fighting games, the core elements of the game – not the upper-level, really-advanced-player stuff – is locked behind this huge execution wall”, he said.
To play, to do the basic moves of the game we assume as designers you can do, requires, depending on who you are, three months? This means players can focus on surviving, defending and evading attacks, especially since the combatants will be robots and not martial artists as in “Street Fighter” or “Tekken”. Basically, at that point, once you become proficient at those kinds of things, then, now, you are playing fighting games. That’s just rough. It’s a big ask.
According to Polygon, “Rising Thunder” will not have players perform motions or press multiple inputs for special moves, as they can all be done with a press of a button. On top of that you also get a Super, and Kinetic Mode – and the entire game can be played on a keyboard.
A report from Event Hubs has confirmed that “Rising Thunder” will not only be a PC-exclusive fighting game but will also be a free-to-play one, with plenty of online multiplayer matches to be had. Though Stonehearth is still in alpha, Radiant Entertainment has pooled their resources to develop online-focused competitive fighting game Rising Thunder, forming a team headed by none other than Seth Killian.
