Rivals Take Aim at Christie in Undercard Debate
Bobby Jindal spent his time during Tuesday’s Republican undercard debate attacking his GOP rivals as big government conservatives while New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie repeatedly refused to respond to the attacks, pivoting to criticism of Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.
“What that means is let’s shrink the government, not slow its growth rate, but actually shrink the government, so we can grow the American economy”.
“Having grown up poor, I know a little something about it”, Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas, said. “This is not different”, DuHaime said. And here’s what I want to remind everybody. “But the fact is, the differences between us on that stage, while real, and much less significant than the differences with Hillary Clinton”, Christie said on “Fox and Friends” the morning after the fourth GOP debate. “The opponent is Hillary Clinton”.
“We have a right as a country to compete with other countries that have export financing”, he said.
“When they go to relieve themselves, the cause and the toilets get flushed at the same time – and the American people lose”, he said.
“Are we going to open the door so that ISIS people will come in and we’ll give them a place to stay and medical benefits?” Christie also addressed the ongoing debate about policing in the United States by accusing the Obama administration of “not standing behind police across the country, allowing lawlessness to reign in this country”. Goldford also suggested Jindal’s attacks on Christie, as well as Huckabee, didn’t play well with the audience. None of the candidates named a Democratic politicitan.
“This is a legitimate debate between Chris and Bobby between someone who says he can win in a blue state and someone who says he is a principled conservative”, Santorum said. On veterans’ health, he asked, “What would happen if the president and Congress had to get their health care from the VA?”
If Christie doesn’t leave the presidential race, 51 percent said he should resign from his position as governor. The number of state workers went up 20 percent. Christie said 20 percent on the high end and eight percent on the low end and agreed with Santorum on simplifying the tax code.
“Just trying is not enough”, Jindal said. I feel great. I feel like he did a really great job tonight. “We’re stealing from our children”. When questioned about China’s spying on US citizens, stealing of intellectual property and general cyber aggression, Christie vowed to retaliate.
“If you think that Mike Huckabee won’t be the kind of president that will cut spending… wait until you see what Hillary Clinton will do”.
“The Fed has manipulated the dollar, so it doesn’t have a standard, tie the dollar to something fixed and if it’s not going to be gold, make it the commodity basket”, Huckabee said.
