RNC Chief: Fox Business Debate ‘Good,’ ‘Tough’ — ‘Not Pat-A-Cake’
To further show a contrast between the two business-oriented debates, FBN initially aired a debate promo slamming the CNBC debate.
Radio: Listen to the GOP debate on Fox Business Network’s SiriusXM Radio channel 113. The Republican National Committee’s primary debate calendar also includes a “conservative media debate”, which is tentatively scheduled to take place in early January. “We don’t have to go for gotcha questions or get snarky about it”.
That’s a stark contrast with CNBC – but maybe also a low bar.
Numerous questions and commentaries by the CNBC moderators in the last debate were rebuked in the aftermath for being argumentative and not objective.
The debate will be moderated by Fox’s Neil Cavuto and Maria Bartiromo, along WSJ’s Gerard Baker.
Even before the stage was set, Cavuto hinted that he and his colleagues would take a much different tone from that of CNBC.
Republicans candidates were very pleased with the Fox Business moderators for their handling of the debate. Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment has been violated repeatedly by most of the candidates and the debates have become personal attacks against each candidate or asking each candidate to tear into each other. In an apparent reference to the reaction of several candidates to the questions asked during the CNBC debate, he warned candidates to be “careful about looking like whiners and babies”.

The debate was mostly about economics, with rising Florida Senator Marco Rubio making an argument against a $15 minimum wage.
It left a few journalists who live-tweeted the debate thought the questioning was too safe and soft.
Fox Business: Friend or Foe?
Unsurprisingly, Fox’s owner Rupert Murdoch was happy with what he saw. Rubio dubbing the media “Hillary Clinton’s Super PAC”.
Television ratings for Fox’s debate will be released on Wednesday. In addition, the iOS FOX Business App will have live stream and the Fox News App will have live stream on both iOS and Android.
