Rob Gronkowski Injury: Patriots TE Ruled Out For A Week At Most
The Broncos have won two in a row with Osweiler at quarterback, against a resurgent Chicago Bears team on the road and then a thriller in overtime against a New England Patriots team that was 10-0.
9News had to know: Once Manning gets back healthy, and with Osweiler playing so well, would Manning be willing to accept a backup role?
A week later, the cast was removed, although Manning’s foot is now immobilized by an enormous boot.
“I’m taking this job one day at a time like I do every day and keep plugging away every day and put great plans in week in and week out”, he said. “Sorry if you’re offended by that”, the taciturn coach said in reply to a question by ESPN’s Michele Steele.
And that means he’s not thinking about the status of the quarterback position and whether he or Brock Osweiler will play if he can fully recover from the foot injury.
“It’s been a fair, intense amount of throwing, I’d say”, Luck said, acknowledging he’s so far been pain free. “I was like, ‘Whoa!’ You know, he’s got a huge frame and they’re going to attack it, but he’s a tough kid, he’s going to get up and he’s going to do what’s best for the team”. “Being a competitor, always being able to play, you always want to be out there, I think any competitor would tell you, would be lying if they said it wasn’t hard not being out there”.
The Denver Broncos’ victory softened his frustration, but Demaryius Thomas knows he can’t continue to play the way he did Sunday night. Osweiler has four touchdowns and two interceptions his two starts for the Broncos and his play has helped open up the running game for the offense as well.
Coach Gary Kubiak reiterated his earlier point of view that Manning is the team’s starting quarterback whenever he’s ready to get back on the field. “If you have any other questions, you really should take it up with our public relations department, which is very capably run by Stacey [James] and his staff”.
The Patriots and the Gronkowski family issued a joint statement Tuesday afternoon regarding the knee injury he suffered during the Patriots’ first loss of the season on Sunday night in Denver. And if you don’t, then one play changes games. “I’ll see you when I get back on the field”.
Brady had expressed frustration with the referees and their calls on Sunday after the game and on sports radio Monday morning, but when asked about it, he said it’s time to move on. That’s what I’m focused on. “Probably not a whole bunch, just because I haven’t been much of a gun-running guy”, Kubiak said.
