Rob Ryan Fired by Saints
The move comes after the Saints’ lost big against the Washington Redskins in Sunday’s game. Firing Ryan is something we haven’t even met on… Mickey (Loomis) and I will spend time visiting on our team like we always do. In that contest the defense gave up over 500 yards of offense.
The only defense that allowed more? He simply had his way in shredding the Saints for 324 yards in going 20-of-25 with four TDs and no interceptions.
Ryan, one of the most colorful and recognizable assistant in the National Football League and the twin brother of Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan, has been a defensive coordinator in the National Football League for the last 12 seasons.
“It’s hard to be last”.
“Obviously, it was a disappointing loss”, Payton said. “We’re talking about one coach, any type of change like that would be done with a lot of discussion”, Payton said. I also heard a few players don’t like his complex defensive scheme. Now appearing on a radio show, Payton spoke on the matter. It was gonna be different. “And we’ll get that right”, Payton added in his earlier comments.
“When you fire a coach, you have to look at the players he’s working with”, Miller said. With the bye week immediately following the loss to Washington, Ryan’s fate was probably stamped at halftime because the transition would be relatively simple. Even in those wins, however, the defense frequently allowed opponents to mount significant comebacks in late quarters, including a record-breaking shootout with the NY Giants that resulted in a 52-49 win and a combined 13 touchdown passes. He and Ryan had not seen eye to eye in recent seasons, which has been roundly documented.
Linebacker Stephone Anthony said: “I’m behind Rob Ryan 100 percent, man. I think any time when you’re in this situation and anything that goes wrong, everybody points the finger at you”.
Not exactly teams well-known for their defensive prowess.
The press conference took place after reports surfaced the Rob Ryan was going to be replaced as defensive coordinator.
