Rob Ryan was target of potential attack by alleged criminals
Rex Ryan’s long-haired twin brother was the target of a botched robbery in New Orleans past year when he was working as the Saints’ defensive coordinator, according to court docs obtained by the New Orleans Advocate. Only, one of the two men targeting Ryan dialed the wrong number and left a voicemail revealing their plan to break into the coach’s house.
According to the New Orleans Advocate, Jockquaren “Jock” Van Norman and Larry “Alz” Quinn were targeting Ryan for a robbery, when one of the two made a decision to tell his partner in crime all the ways in which Ryan’s home defense could be easily subverted.
Cops in New Orleans were tipped off to the plan to rob Ryan after the woman forwarded the voicemail, the New Orleans Advocate reported, leading to two arrests. “He’s just a regular football coach”.
Ryan was sacked in Nov.as defensive coordinator of the Saints.
The federal worker turned the voicemail over to the authorities. New Orleans was giving up 31.5 points per game at the time of Ryan’s dismissal. “He don’t have not bodyguards … in front of his house”.
According to The Advocate, one of the men, Jock Van Norman, was booked in November “on a variety of counts, including armed robbery, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, conspiracy to commit murder and serving as an accessory to murder”.
Good thing for Ryan that they misdialed. The phone number that left the voice message traced back to the men.
The other man, Alz Quinn, “was jailed August 23 on a variety of counts as well, including armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and attempted murder”.
Ryan now works under his twin brother, Rex, with the Bills.
