Robert and Dianne Bentley agree to divorce
He says he is grateful for people’s encouragement and prayers. The governor submitted a brief response saying he agreed with a few statements, such as they have adult children and the location of their residences.
A judge had initially sealed the divorce case at the request of couple, but multiple news media outlets filed a motion to have the case made public. She said the couple, both 72, had been separated since January.
It appears 12 of the 41 documents associated with Governor Bentley’s divorce are not available in the court records.
A judge on Tuesday signed the divorce decree, ending the couple’s 50-year marriage.
“I am truly blessed and deeply honored to serve as your governor”. Specifically, whether there are any allegations of infidelity while the governor was on state business, whether there was any misuse of state funds or whether there was a misuse of Bentley’s position as governor.
Mrs. Bentley asked for alimony, possession of their homes in Tuscaloosa and Fort Morgan, and division of other assets. On August. 28, the smiling couple made a joint appearance with college mascots at the Governor’s Mansion less than an hour after the divorce papers were stamped as filed.
The divorce agreement says that Mrs. Bentley can close the account whenever she pleases.
Mrs. Bentley has said she was never excited about being a politician’s wife, adding she was a shy person and uncomfortable with people and crowds.
The season tickets to the University of Alabama are going to Governor Bentley. They have four sons and eight grandchildren. “Happy Anniversary Dianne!” the governor wrote as he tweeted a photo from their 1964 wedding.
The divorce papers list “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation. Bentley spent much of the 2015 trying to convince lawmakers in his own party to raise taxes in the face of a budget shortfall.
