Robert Beal credits relationship with Kirby Smart for commitment to Georgia
Robert Beal joins the Bulldogs’ 2017 recruiting class as their highest-rated recruit.
Beal, the No. 5 ranked recruit in the 2017 ESPN 300 and the 30th ranked prospect in the 247Sports Composite, is from Norcross, Ga. Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Notre Dame (to which he’d previously committed), Miami, Oregon and Ohio State, among others, all offered scholarships to Beal.
The Georgia recruiting class added the commitment from five-star defensive end Robert Beal on Tuesday and the coaching change from Mark Richt to Kirby Smart could have been the difference.. Beal stands as Georgia’s 13th commitment. Interestingly, his high school teammate from IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, Joshua Kaindoh, who is committed to Maryland, is fifth overall at defensive end.
He follows another former Norcross defensive end, Lorenzo Carter, to the Bulldogs.
Towards the end of the video, Beal pulled down a garage door, which had painted on it the Georgia logo.
It’s worth pointing out that Kevin Sherrer, Georgia’s outside linebackers coach, was one of Beal’s primary recruiters from Georgia.
“We need you. We don’t want you – we need you”, Beal said of the message from the team. “He’s different from everybody else because we don’t talk recruiting much”.
