Robert De Niro’s freakish dummy spit during interview
“I am amazed. All the way through”, she writes of what De Niro said. He is soon dubbed “Mr Congeniality”, charming the rank and file with his “vintage” dress and outdated etiquette – a chivalrous gent in a sea of stumbling, stubbled boys. “I talked to her about balancing being such an integral part of [the online fashion retailer Santo Domingo co-founded] Moda Operandi and also being a mom and a wife”. Brolin- who may or may not have been referring to his Gangster Squad co-star Ryan Gosling-continued, “I was like, Holy shit, he’s actually doing De Niro“. Quite what attracts one of the greatest actors of our time to such whimsy is an ongoing lounge debate, but we’d hazard it wasn’t the clunky, schmaltzy script from writer-director Nancy Meyers (The Holiday).
Anne Hathaway returned to the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie, “The Intern“, in New York City on Monday.
An acclaimed soprano, she was reportedly favourite for the role of Christine in The Phantom Of The Opera, but scheduling conflicts meant the role went to Emmy Rossum. She’s really just a very good person. In this case, I think the observations she has made are about generational humor.
“From the inane Meet The Fockers and unwatchable Last Vegas, to the meandering Grudge Match and gloriously terrible New Year’s Eve, this giant of the industry has stunk theatres out across the globe for the past two decades”, wrote Morgan. Are you suggesting it’s lonely for women at the top and do you see this particularly for successful women, wherever they are in society? “She’s tough and tenacious and she’s uncompromising and a go-getter”.
“I have to say, now that you’re going on about it, it makes me think you were on auto-pilot and you’re super-sensitive about it”. It’s at this point that she says De Niro asked her to stop her recorder and then proceeded to leave the interview. “They’re not similar characters, but there was something there”.
The 32-year-old actress spoke about playing a high-powered CEO, working with De Niro and Meyers and overcoming insecurities.
De Niro and Hathaway nail their performances and had the entire Ziegfeld crowd (which included Mariah Carey and Sting) rolling with laughter, hooting and hollering – particularly during a scene where Hathaway’s interns have to break into her mother’s home to delete an email Jules accidentally sent.
De Niro isn’t the first actor to shut down interviews. “I come from like a stand-up background, and Workaholics is much more joke-driven, so we like to like stick the landings and land on the joke”.
