Robert Downey Jr. Is the Highest-Paid Actor for Third Consecutive Year
Robert Downey Jr., for the third year in a row, is the world’s highest-paid actor ($80 million), but that’s not the real news in Forbes’ annual list of leading men with enviable bank balances.
According to Natalie Robehmed of Forbes, the rank, which included celebrities from Hollywood to Bollywood and Hong Kong, examined the earnings made by actors for the first truly global dollar tally.
Next on the list are Vin Diesel with $47 million, Bradley Cooper with $41.5 million, Adam Sandler with $41 million, Tom Cruise with $40 million, and Mark Wahlberg with $32 million.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” was one of the highest grossing films of all-time, making more than $1.3 billion worldwide. He made his US$50 million from highly profitable franchises such as the upcoming historical action movie Dragon Blade, as well as merchandise tie-ins and a cinema chain which trades under his name.
Depp and DiCaprio, who have both topped Forbes’ list in the past, found themselves pushed outside the top 10 into 12th and 13th positions with earnings of US$30 million and $29 million respectively.
Bachchan, 72, and Khan, 49, earned $33.5m each. Newcomers to the list include comedians Seth Rogen who earned $17 million and Jonah Hill who earned $16 million.
You can see the complete list of all the highest-paid actors at The Wrap. Forbes collated its list based on figures from sources like Nielsen, Box Office Mojo, and IMDB. It will publish a list on the world’s highest-paid actresses at a later date. It then calculated each actor’s earning by subtracting estimated fees and taxes.
