Robert Kirkman Talks Walking Dead
The Walking Dead Season 6 debuts this Sunday on AMC, but stay tuned to IGN all weekend for more from Comic-Con. And with the 150th issue of The Walking Dead comic approaching, Kirkman said he hopes to continue with the story until he dies – and then the story will have “no resolution”. Finally, there’s the small matter of whoever captured Daryl at the end of the season 6 trailer, as they didn’t exactly look too friendly. “Would anyone like to see the other communities introduced?” “Alright, we’ll do it”.
“I think it would be very cool if Negan were to be introduced to the show”. That’s Alexandria, of course, where Rick and his group came in and shook things up past year. “The two are very closely tied at this point”. “I do know when but I can’t say”. “It was always in the plan to bring back Morgan”, said Kirkman, “but [actor Lennie James] just kept working, so it took us a while to get to a place where he had an open schedule”.
“The Walking Dead” creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman revealed the sixth season’s connection to the comics and teased the Wolves during an interview with USA Today.
For Kirkman, the appeal of the spinoff was a chance to right a few wrongs from “TWD”, including how quickly our survivors adjusted to killing zombies – especially characters like pizza boy Glenn (Steven Yeun). “It was a lot of fun just playing with expectations and how alien this world would be and how hard it would be to adjust”. “But the success of “Fear” shows that there’s certainly a few appetite for that”.
