Robert Lewandowski scores as Bayern edges Atletico 1-0
It was not your ordinary goal celebration as Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski scored the victor in Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.
The Group D leaders are six points clear of second-placed Bayern, who they beat 1-0 in Madrid in September thanks to Yannick Carrasco’s first-half strike.
Bayern had won their last 14 home Champions League matches, but were nearly behind in the ninth minute on what was a foggy evening when Carrasco’s low drive was deflected away by goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

The 32-year-old, who famously knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League last season at the quarter-final stage, has missed Atletico’s last three games with a hip injury.

Fernando Torres will be seen in action for Atletico Madrid.
The match at Allianz Arena is a dead rubber and regardless of the result Atletico will progress as group winners with Bayern second. “Nevertheless, we want to show what we are capable of against Atletico, against a team that we know will give us a hard match”.
Before the game this had the look of an immovable object [the Atletico defence] against the irresistible force of Bayern’s top-scorer: Robert Lewandowski.
Lewandowski is priced at 8/11 (1.73) to score his fourth European goal of the season, just ahead of Thomas Muller at 8/5 (2.60) and Arjen Robben at 7/4 (2.75). However, Carlo Ancelotti’s men are still far from their usual best, and have largely struggled to keep clean sheets this season.
