Roberto Firmino gives update on eye injury after PSG win
Jurgen Klopp rode an incredible season from Mohamed Salah, Robert Firmino and Sadio Mane to the final previous year.
Even when Roberto Firmino made a reference to his injured eye after winning Liverpool’s Champions League group opener on Tuesday night, Mane was right there behind the Brazilian. Thomas Meunier then clawed one back for PSG close to half-time before Kylian Mbappe equalised in the 83rd minute – but Firmino struck on 92 minutes to make it six wins out of six for Liverpool this season.
After Liverpool defeated PSG 3-2 on Tuesday, aided by a Milner goal, the fan favourite took to social media with PSG superstar Neymar his latest target.
After Firmino’s rather disturbing eye injury sustained during the game against Tottenham Hotspur on the weekend, there were questions surrounding his readiness to play this game, and in the end Jurgen Klopp went with Sturridge to lead the line from the start.
“I can’t see anyone coming close to them and Man City to be honest”. After two successful seasons, he was let go after clashing with management. “One of them a yard less tonight and it’s game over”.
“Normally if you score a hat-trick you frame it”.
A few minutes later, with the game two-a-piece, Firmino bagged a late victor to secure all three vital points.
Hello good evening welcome to the 2nd day of the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League. “That said, we were not 100 per cent focused”.
Liverpool will travel to Italy to play Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli on October 3rd in the Champions League.
Back in Champions League action for the first time since last season’s agonising final defeat against Real Madrid, Liverpool erased the bitter taste of that loss with a thrilling success against the star-studded French champions. But Porto, who won the Champions League in Schalke’s Gelsenkirchen stadium in 2004, equalised when Otavio converted another penalty late on.
