Roberto Martinez slams Valon Behrami for horror tackle on Kevin Mirallas
Kevin Mirallas is a doubt for Everton’s trip to Southampton on Saturday afternoon as the Blues prepare for their second game of the 2015-16 season.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez has confirmed he is in the market for a couple of new signings, but is looking for players who will bring more to his side than a “24-hour buzz”, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The Hornets midfielder clattered into Mirallas in the 68th minute at Goodison Park, a challenge that resulted in the Belgium global receiving several minutes of treatment.
Everton have had to deal with interest in a lot of their stars this summer, with McCarthy, John Stones and Kevin Mirallas all facing uncertain futures.
“It was a very unsafe challenge and if you review the action, he was very fortunate to escape with no major injury”.
Everton are already without Leighton Baines, Darron Gibson, Steven Pienaar, Tony Hibbert and Aiden McGeady because of injuries.
Meanwhile, the Blues have received a boost with the news that key duo Gerard Deulofeu and Muhamed Besic are seemingly on the mend from injuries that kept them out for the latter half of pre-season.
“Gerard Deulofeu and Mo Besic are very close and it’s about getting them back to their best possible level”, the Spaniard told Everton’s official website.
“Physically we need giving them that introduction but they are close to making the squad for the weekend”.
