Robin van Persie is set to leave Manchester United – Back Page
The Guardian reported on Saturday that Van Persie had agreed terms with the Turkish side after two days of negotiations carried out by his agent Kees Vos.
The two clubs are still negotiating a transfer fee and if an agreement is reached, the striker will reportedly sign a four-year deal.
The 16-year-old showboating winger Callum Gribbin showed up at Manchester United’s first team training on Monday, and subsequently might be joining the club’s pre-season tour to the USA next Monday.
City accepted Uefa’s punishment in May 2014 after having breached the rules for accruing cumulative losses of £149.5 million in 2011-12 and 2012-13.
This was an initial indication of how the manager viewed Van Persie and by the end of the season the striker had been dropped by Van Gaal.
Injuries prevented Van Persie from building a head of steam last season, while he also was not seen as an automatic first choice when he was available. With Radamel Falcao’s departure, and the recent sale of young Angelo Henriquez, it was widely believed that Van Persie would stay for the foreseeable future, as United have limited options in attack. After such an awesome start Van Persie’s United career seems to be over. Henriquez has been described as a ex- player on the club’s official website.
Van Persie was earlier not too keen on a move to Turkey, but it understood that countryman national teammate Dirk Kuyt, who played at Fenerbahce for three seasons, played an instrumental role in reassuring him.
Van Gaal does not want a repeat of last season, when United managed only 13 points from their first 10 Premier League games.
With David Moyes as manager, United had their worst Premier League season ever.
Supporters will be pleased to hear of van Gaal’s meticulous plans ahead of the new campaign. They eventually finished fourth getting the team back into the Champions’ League.
