Robin Williams’ daughter opens up about coping with his death
“I didn’t really grow up in the spotlight”, the 27-year-old actress told the talk show host on Netflix’s Chelsea.
“I just kept going, ‘OK, well, today I’m going to get up and love what I do”.
“While she explains that she tried to wake up happy each day, she found solace in her alone time, working hard and eventually writing twelve scripts. And then the next day.’ Because that’s all you can do”, the actress and screenwriter explained while appearing on “Chelsea”.
The legendary actor was 63 when he committed suicide on August 11, 2014, following a struggle with anxiety and Parkinson’s disease.
The actress, who now stars in new USA horror series Dead of Summer, went on to explain how the way people behaviour to her changed after the comic’s death.
It’s a poignant and very touching account of her experiences, and it’s one that anyone who has endured the loss of a parent will relate to. And then even if you are OK, theyre like, Well, whats wrong? So now I’m doing a more of that.
Earlier this month, Zelda took a break from social media to remember her late father privately as the anniversary of his death approached. JoJo’s father died past year, and she credits Williams and her family as a large part of her support system.
“Thought you’d get a kick out of furry, four legged friends helping change the world, one warrior in need at a time”, she added. I think theres that reaction of like, Oh, are you OK? “They’ll think you can’t have a monogamous relationship – and by the way, it doesn’t really matter if you want to be not-monogamous or not”. “I mean that’s it. Chelsea notes that often times with grief you can get to ‘a really attractive place because of something tragic that happens'”.
While Zelda continues to grieve for her father, she also works hard to keep his memory alive.
