Robin Williams’ Widow, Kids Settle Dispute over Estate
Mrs Williams has been allowed to keep gifts from her 2011 wedding to the Mrs Doubtfire star, along with a watch worn by him and a bike the couple bought on their honeymoon.
A lawyer for Susan Williams said she would stay in the San Francisco home she had shared with the actor. “As the case developed, more of Williams” belongings, including his bicycle collection, awards, watches and family photographs, were entered into dispute.
Robin Williams’ widow has settled a bitter legal dispute with the late actor’s three children over his estimated $100m (£65m) estate.
Meredith Bushnell, the legal representative for Williams’ three kids from previous marriage, Zachary, Zelda, and Cody, stated that she believed the children were “very happy to have this behind them”, this after the Williams kids had previously called Susan Williams’ attempts to challenge the trust “heartbreaking”, stating that her actions “added insult to a bad injury by “acting against his wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made for his estate”.
The full terms of the settlement, which still has to be approved by a judge, noted the Times, were not disclosed, but Schneider Williams’ attorney Jim Wagstaffe told Entertainment Weekly that his client was pleased with the terms. He left his California home to Susan and also stated that she got expenses to maintain it.
Court documents filed in December and February outlined a disagreement surrounding the Oscar winner’s money and property, as well as who got his personal items.
“I feel like Robin’s voice has been heard and I can finally grieve in the home we shared together”, she said.
The children countered that Susan Williams tried to change the trust agreement and deprive them of items that their father clearly meant to leave to them.
James Wagstaffe, who is representing Susan Schneider, said both sides were satisfied with the settlement.
