Robinson: The Journey Marries Crytek, PlayStation VR and Dinosaurs
“Robinson: The Journey is about recreating that level of authenticity on a much, much grander scale”.
As a studio, we’re really excited to be creating Robinson for PlayStation VR, and believe it’s the ideal platform for what we’re striving to achieve with the game.
The game is based in part on the “Back to Dinosaur Island” VR demos the company has been showing over the past year. But, we knew very little about the game outside of the engine (CryEngine, obviously). You’re not completely alone it seems though, as the trailer introduces a floating, robot who seems to be your guide.
Today, at Sony’s Paris Games Week, Crytek’s co-founder Cevat Yerli disclosed that its next game will be Robinson: The Journey, a game on virtual reality involving dinosaurs.
From the developers of Crysis comes a new prehistoric VR game. The game will debut first on the PlayStation VR. Players will be exploring the planet’s environment, interacting with the world and discovering “amazing secrets”. The visuals in the E3 Robinson demo were impressive, so it’ll be interesting to see how those translate into the less powerful PlayStation 4 powered platform. In other words, you’ll be able to look around and explore the planet in 360 degrees.
