Robot Golfer Scores A Hole In One
In terms of sports, we have seen the ping pong playing robot by Omron at CEATEC before, but what about a robot that plays golf?
Perhaps, not too long…in golf at least.
A golf robot named after former world No 1 Tiger Woods sunk a phenomenal hole-in-one to the amazement of thousands of spectators.
Eldric’s hole in one sparked wild celebrations. Eldrick hasn’t been programmed to celebrate or show any form of emotion, although plenty of his carers on the day got very excited about the whole thing once he aced the shot.
Golf Digest actually describes the impressive robot as a “stone-cold killer on the course” and “the go-to device for equipment and ball-testing in the golf industry”. Known as “LDRIC the Robot”, this machine is the brainchild of a certain Gene Parente who owns Golf Laboratories Inc.
Twenty years later, the robot (named after the golf great) nailed exactly the same shot.
