Roby’s Pick 6 helps Broncos beat Jaguars 20-10

PLUCKING BRONCOS: The Jaguars have signed a free agent from Denver in each of the last three seasons, and only defensive tackle Malik Jackson has panned out. Can back up quarterback Paxton Lynch lead the Broncos offense while Siemian sits the bench?

It did. But it was far from pretty.

While the Broncos are busy planning to get after Bortles, Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash is doing the same to harass the inexperienced Lynch.

The Broncos’ depth remains an issue upfront. The held Blake Bortles to 181 yards passing with 0 TDs and 2 INTs. With Lynch at the helm, the Broncos planned to use him more in the shotgun formation and emphasize the run game.

In 16 games a year ago, the Jaguars had 124 explosive plays (99 passes and 25 rushes), an average of 7.8 per game.

The Jaguars (2-9) are coming from a 28-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills last week.

Bibbs racked up a team-leading 49 yards on just five carries, but he sprained his ankle and did not return for the second half.

After Manning’s retirement, the Broncos were left with just the 250th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Siemian on their roster at the most important position in sports.

“These players are working hard and they’re going for it”, Bradley said.

Jacksonville’s offense may not have been effective, but it kept the Denver defense on the field for plenty of time. This week they wanted to regain their reputation as closers.

There are a lot of factors that have played into Robinson’s lack of success this year. “Maybe I should start upping my physicality”. This is how we usually finish games. It worked because winning the turnover battle was the avenue to winning the game.

The ultimate result, though, came up on the negative side, a 23-16 setback, and once Siemian was deemed healthy enough to be back in the lineup, the placeholder was back on the table while the main course was placed back in the fridge to marinate a little longer. “But like everything, the more that you get repetition of it, the more comfortable you feel”. But it was a victory.
