Robyn premieres thumping new dance track ‘Set Me Free’
Titled “Love Is Free”, their five-track mini-album will be released on August 7 on Robyn’s own label Konichiwa Records.
Robyn has spoken about how hard it was to complete her new EP after her longtime friend and musical collaborator Christian Falk died from pancreatic cancer past year. The collection will include the recently-released singles “Love Is Free” and “Set Me Free”, which debuted on BBC Radio and Beats 1, respectively.
“We kept working as much as we could. [Christian] was still there, like a ghost in the machine”. “Lose Control”, and the band’s Arthur Russell cover “Tell You Today” will also appear.
The 36-year-old’s new project was an attempt to return to normality after the huge effort involved in releasing her last record Body Talk in three parts in 2010, followed by a world tour and support slots with Coldplay and Katy Perry. A second track from the mini-album, “Set Me Free”, was premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats1 show yesterday and is now streaming online.
