Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Class Announced

The induction ceremony will take place at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in the late spring, and will be taped by HBO for wider release.

It’s all legitimised in a way because the whole music industry has to honour the group. After finding out about the news, which was announced early Thursday morning, the veteran singer, guitarist and songwriter issued a statement in which he made reference to some of the nicknames he gave himself in his classic chart-topping 1972 hit “The Joker”. Others who were nominated this year but didn’t make the cut include Janet Jackson, Nine Inch Nails and The Smiths. This year marks the record tenth time that Chic has been rejected. Voters include over 800 record execs, music experts, music critics, and past winners.

When asked by Rolling Stone if he thought that any of his Steve Miller Band bandmates would feel slighted, he speculated that its a possibility, but dismissed any backlash by saying it wasn’t his decision. They were followed by inductees Deep Purple with 25.54 million votes (15.9 percent) and Miller, who collected 25.51 million votes (15.9 percent).

Cheap Trick winds down its 2015 tour itinerary this week with shows on Friday in Napa, California; Saturday in Stateline, Nevada; and Sunday in San Jose, California.

The Spinners have been eligible for 30 years, and this year marked the third time that the group was nominated.

N.W.A., led by Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, was elected after three unsuccessful nominations in a year when a movie about the group’s career, “Straight Outta Compton”, was a box-office hit. The band will be inducted on April 8th, alongside Chicago, Deep Purple, N.W.A and Steve Miller. From media pariahs to pop-culture darlings, the team of California rappers will finally see their placement in history cemented when they’re inducted into the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
