Rocket League Goes Mad Max With Post-Apocalyptic DLC
Get ready for Rocket League: Chaos Run. It will include: 2 New Battle-Cars, Ripper and Grog; 12 New Decals (six for each new Battle-Car); 2 New Paint Types (Camo and Sun-Damaged); 2 New Wheels (Ripper and Grog); 2 New Rocket Trails (Sandstorm, Nuts and Bolts); 3 New Toppers (Boombox, Cow Skull, Mohawk); 3 New Antennas (Bomb Pole, Radioactive, Retro Ball – Wasteland); and 5 New Trophies.
Arriving alongside Chaos Run will be a free update for all players that introduces a new arena called Wasteland.
It’s different in that it’s physically wider than all of Rocket League’s other stadiums. Based on a field of the same name from the original Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Wasteland is the first “non-regulation” pitch to come to Rocket League.
We knew a new Rocket League announcement was coming today. What is likely to be the most notable change, however, is that the ground is sloped around the edges, which changes how it plays. This kind of game is made for a “Mad Max” kind of atmosphere, where two vehicles enter and only one leaves. It definitely helps that the game has been supported with a combination of free updates along with enticing paid DLC, such as this and the Back to the Future Delorean auto, which has kept the game feeling fresh since launch.
Since Rocket League lives and dies on its sense of balance, its important to reiterate that these are cosmetic items, meant to give players a chance to better craft the soccer-mobile of their dreams. Do you plan on picking up the Chaos Run DLC when it releases next month?
The highlight of the new content, however, is a brand new free arena, dubbed “Wasteland”. The Chaos Run DLC for the game will be available at a few point in December.
